Steer Clear of Fungal Infections:

Fungal infections are a popular and perpetual problem during the monsoon season. Most of us battle against red, itchy skin and painful breakouts during this moist and humid season. The best way to prevent fungal infections from occurring is by keeping your skin as dry as possible. So, avoid staying in damp clothes and shoes for long. When wiping yourself dry, take special care to wipe the areas between your fingers and toes and the region behind your knees. Also, cleansing your body with antifungal creams, soaps and talc will help combat fungal infections.

Moisturize Dry Skin:

If you have dry skin, take special efforts to keep your skin moisturized. During the monsoon season, there is a rise in humidity levels and this causes your already dry skin to get dehydrated further. So, don’t forget to slather on a good moisturizing lotion at least twice a day, especially after you wash your face. You could also make a homemade pack for dry skin by crushing a handful of almonds and mixing it with a teaspoon of honey. Apply this paste on your face and keep it on for at least 5 minutes, then wash it off with warm water.

Oily Skincare:

If you have oily skin, you might notice an increase in the frequency of breakouts and the formation of blackheads and whiteheads. This is because your sebaceous glands secrete more sebum to counteract the dryness caused by frequent wetting of skin. Using a water-based moisturizer twice or thrice a day will help balance out dryness of skin. You could also create a homemade pack for oily skin by smashing some papaya pieces into a pulp and then mixing it with oatmeal scrub. Keep this pack on for 10-15 minutes before washing it off with cool water. You could also apply an anti-bacterial toner at night to cleanse skin pores.

Exfoliate your Skin:

There is an increase in air-borne bacteria during the rainy season and hence it is extremely necessary to exfoliate skin at least 2 to 3 times a week. Exfoliation sucks out impurities from skin pores and this helps your skin stay clean. It also rids your skin of dead skin cells, making your face look fresh and healthy. You needn’t visit a parlour to exfoliate your skin. You can easily do this at home. Here is an article that shows you how to do this:

Drink Sufficient Water:

Drinking enough water is the best way to keep your skin healthy and glowing. So, if you want to enjoy beautiful skin even in the monsoons, make sure to drink at least 7-8 glasses of water a day. By drinking sufficient water, your skin will stay hydrated, soft and supple throughout the rainy season.

Hope these monsoon skincare tips help you enjoy soft, problem-free skin throughout this season.
