Castor oil and Sugar Scrub:

This is an especially good remedy if you have dry, rough palms. Sugar crystals help slough off dead skin and castor oil nourishes your hands. All you need to do is pour some sugar in the palm of your hand and then add a few drops of castor oil. Massage your palms, fingers and the outer parts of your hands with this mixture for 30 seconds. Then, let this scrub soak in for another 30 seconds before washing it off.

Vaseline or petroleum jelly is known for its intense moisturizing properties. It can soften the most callused palms and heal the severest of cracks. Treat your hands to some of this goodness by smearing Vaseline on your hands and letting it soak into your skin overnight. Cover your hands with gloves or socks to prevent the jelly layer from rubbing off onto your bed sheet or pillow.

Egg Yolk:

This home remedy is great for people with very dry hands. The yolk of the egg is rich in fats, proteins and nutrients and hence, becomes a great conditioner and moisturizer for dry skin. Apply only the egg yolk on your hands and leave it on your skin for 15-20 minutes. Use warm water and a good organic soap to wash your hands and then dry them with a soft towel.

Olive Oil/Almond Oil:

Both these oils make for great moisturizing agents. Almond oil, on the one hand, is rich in vitamin E and has rejuvenating and revitalizing properties. Olive oil, on the other hand, is packed with goodness because it is a powerful moisturizer, has potent exfoliating properties and is rich in antioxidants. Massage your hands with either of these oils to enjoy baby soft, crack-free hands.

Tomatoes, Glycerine & Lemon Juice:

Tomatoes and lemon juice both have skin lightening and exfoliating properties. Glycerine, on the other hand, moisturizes, tones and smoothens skin. Create a nourishing hand pack by mixing equal parts of tomato juice, glycerine and lemon juice and rubbing it into your skin. Leave this mixture on for at least 10 minutes before rinsing it off. Apply this mix everyday if you have very dry skin and twice or thrice in a week if the dryness isn’t very severe.

Apart from these home remedies for treating dry hands, make sure you constantly take steps to prevent the skin on your hands from getting damaged. So, wear gloves while dealing with detergent, drink lots of water and don’t forget to slather on a nourishing hand cream whenever possible. Diligently follow these hand care tips and you’ll surely be able to flaunt flawless, smooth hands that people will love to touch and be touched by!
