Garnier Neem Face Wash Product Review: What makes it the Ideal Face Wash for summer

This product has been around for a while, but I chose to bring it in the spotlight now because it is during these blistering summer months that we feel the desperate need for a deep-cleansing, powerful face wash like this. It is almost a universally known fact that Indian summers are difficult to endure. Temperatures soar through the roof and we find ourselves perpetually drenched in sweat. It is also during this season that our skin takes a real beating. Not only do we find ourselves turning several shades darker, we also witness increased breakouts and exacerbated blackhead problems.

It is during these trying times that we need to take extra care of our skin. We need to cleanse our face more often and make sure a good face wash is used while doing so. Only this can help rid our pores of the oil, sweat and dirt that accumulates there. Well, which face wash is powerful enough to take on this summer skin care challenge? The Garnier Pure Active Neem Face Wash of course!

I’m sure you’re wondering what gives this face wash an edge above the rest in its league, right? Well, here’s what does:

To begin with, it is enriched with Neem leaf extracts and tea tree oil. Both these products are known to do wonders for acne-prone skin. Neem is loaded with anti-oxidants and is known to have anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Tea tree oil is an effective cleanser and potent healer. This face wash combines the goodness of both these herbs to give you a skin cleansing product that effectively deals with not just pore-blockage, but also does a good job of obliterating pimples and their scars.

I used the Garnier Neem Face Wash for about a month and noticed a visible difference in pimple marks. They did get considerably lighter. Although I don’t suffer from serious breakouts, this face wash noticeably curbed the formation of stray pimples on my face. My face stayed clear the entire month, which is quite rare for me, especially in summer. It also got rid of the pimples that had sprung up on my face before I started using this face wash.

What I also like about this product is that it has a non-comedogenic gel base, i.e. it is oil-free and hence, doesn’t clog pores. It also lathers easily and has a smooth creamy feel. On rinsing off the product, your face feels fresh and clean. The strong Neem fragrance adds to the fresh feeling. On the whole, this purifying face wash is ideal for people who suffer from excessive oil build-up, or those who have to do a lot of travelling and spend much time outdoors.

The Cons of the Product:

I’m not sure how effective this face wash will be for people suffering from serious acne breakouts. Although it powerfully cleanses pores, one might have to combine the usage of this face wash with other medicated products for more comprehensive treatment.

It also dries the skin out a bit, but not to the extent that your skin feels itchy or tight. This effect can easily be negated by applying a moisturizing lotion after you’ve washed your face.

So, on the whole, I think this face wash is effective, efficient and perfect for summer. Get yourself a tube and enjoy clean, smooth and radiant skin!
