You see them dazzle onscreen and you say, “It’s the makeup, and the lights, and the fact that she’s cuddling up with Leonardo-frigging-DiCaprio! Stuff like that just makes you look good!”
Then you see them offscreen, strolling hand-in-hand with their equally gorgeous boyfriends on some exotic beach somewhere, or stealing off on a shopping spree with their just-as-famous girlfriends, and they still look gorgeous, radiant and… young! Now, you think, “Dayum! How??”
Yeah, this intense, quickly-passing pang of desire and jealously does grip my senses too, especially when I see celebs like Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, Nicole Kidman and Halle Berry defy age with their timeless looks and super-hot bodies!
This was about Hollywood. I look to Bollywood and still, I find no respite. What with Hema Malini, Rekha, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and, more recently, Malaika Arora-Khan gracing the ramps and spicying-up reality shows, one wonders if these celebrity beauties are subject to that unavoidable woe of womankind – Ageing!

So, to settle scores and benefit from their secret, age-defying beauty regimens, I did some personal research and stumbled upon some practices most of them follow. (Don’t worry, these tips don’t need for you to have a bottomless bank account. Most celebrities follow very simple steps, but the only difference is that they follow them religiously.)
Here’s what I came across:
Many celebrities have confessed to swearing by a good sunscreen, broad-spectrum ones with SPF 15 or higher. Most of them slather on sunscreen more than once a day to keep their skin protected at all times. Their dermatologists have revealed that they go a step further and apply sunscreen even when indoors as this protects their skin from sunrays that filter in through windows or reflect off shiny surfaces.
Haven’t you always seen them in trendy sunglasses? Well, this is not just to glam-up their look but to protect their eyes from the sun. The lesser you squint, the lesser the chance of developing crow’s feet!
Exfoliate and Moisturize:
Here is a secret most celebs know: Old, dull cells = Enemy. Right they are! To enjoy smooth, youthful-looking skin, the top layer of dead cells needs to be removed. It also helps clean pores and therefore, keeps you safe from breakouts and marks caused by them. Most celebs exfoliate their skins once a week and combine this with once-a-month facials and peels.
Another beauty regimen they swear by is moisturizing. Demi Moore famously said, “I moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. No matter how late it is, when I get home, I take the time to clean and moisturize my face.” That’s that!

One of the most popular, breathlessly beautiful celebrities, Jennifer Aniston follows this simple routine every night.
She steams her pores for 10 minutes, then applies a cleanser, toner and moisturizer. She follows this with a 10 minute facial massage to stimulate skin cells and promote cell growth.
Simple right? I told you.

You needn’t invest such long hours in the gym, but make sure to spend some time everyday on a fitness activity. From yoga to pilates to salsa to bharatnatyam, celebrities have taken to various activities to keep their bodies fit, whilst also enjoying their workouts. Take a leaf out of their book and find an activity that tones your body but, is also fun to do!

Less is More!
Contrary to what we might think, many celebrities like going without makeup when not on sets or red carpets. In fact, they choose to apply minimum makeup or go makeup-free whenever possible. Too much makeup and frequent application is bad for your skin. So, keep face makeup to a minimum and remember to properly clean it off before you hit the sack.
